What Our Clients Say About Us

Common Medicare Questions

Is there any cost for using a Sunnyside Agent?

Never. Sunnyside Agents are compensated by the insurance carriers when you enroll—so our guidance is always free for you.

How do I know my Agent is trustworthy?

Every Sunnyside Agent is fully licensed by Michigan’s Department of Insurance & Financial Services (DIFS) and certified by each carrier they represent. We verify credentials before matching you.

Can I change plans after enrolling?

Yes.
– Annual Enrollment Period (AEP): Oct 15 – Dec 7 each year for Advantage & Part D changes.
– Medigap Open Enrollment: 6-month window starting the month you turn 65 (no medical underwriting). After that, underwriting may apply and rates can rise.

What if I miss my Initial Enrollment Period?

You can enroll during General Enrollment (Jan 1 – Mar 31) but may owe a lifetime late penalty on Part B (10% × months late). Your Sunnyside Agent helps you avoid this by mapping out deadlines well in advance.

How long does enrollment take?

Once you select a plan, your Agent submits your application electronically. Carrier confirmation and your new Medicare card usually arrive within 1–2 weeks. We follow up to ensure you receive everything before your effective date.

Sunnyside’s Coverage Portfolio

Original Medicare (Parts A & B)

  • Part A covers hospitalization, skilled nursing, hospice, and some home health—usually $0 premium if you (or your spouse) paid 10+ years of Medicare taxes.
  • Part B covers doctor visits, outpatient care, and preventive services—standard premium in 2025: $174.70. Late-penalty fees can apply if you miss your Initial Enrollment Period.

Medicare Advantage (Part C)

  • Bundles Parts A & B (and usually Part D). Many local Advantage plans have zero-dollar monthly premiums (you still pay Part B’s premium). Extras often include dental, vision, hearing, SilverSneakers, and Over-the-Counter credits.
  • Your Sunnyside Agent knows which plans cover your favorite doctors and pharmacies—no surprises at checkout.

Part D Prescription Drug Plans

  • If you stay on Original Medicare, you need a stand-alone Part D plan. These have their own premiums, deductibles (max $505 in 2025), and tiered copays.
  • If you choose a Medicare Advantage plan that includes Part D, you skip the stand-alone step altogether (Agent will explain).

Medigap (Medicare Supplement)

  • Standardized plans (A–N) that fill “gaps” in Original Medicare—deductibles, copays, coinsurance, and foreign travel emergencies.
  • Most members choose Plan G or Plan N. Sunnyside Agents compare local carriers (BCBS, UnitedHealthcare, Mutual of Omaha, Aetna) to lock in the best rate for you.
